Beginning Saturday, 28 November 2020, all travellers to Grenada will be required to obtain a PCR test from a certified laboratory within 72 hours of travel, and receive negative results in order to enter the country.
The 72-hour testing mandate will replace the current stipulation of securing the PCR test within 7 days of travel. The change in testing period follows a collective decision taken at a recent OECS meeting.
Health experts believe that people getting tested within 72 hours of travel will help to lessen potentially positive diagnoses after travellers enter the island. The closer the period is between testing and flight the less time individuals will have to contract the virus in their communities of origin before boarding the flight.
This measure is one more step in Grenada’s thrust to maintain a low case count, given the rising numbers of positive Covid-19 cases around the world.
Grenada’s recently announced entry requirement, the Pure Safe Travel Authorisation Certificate, helps to provide an added layer of health screening of potential travellers to the country.
Individuals are now able to complete and submit an online application for entry into the country, as well as upload their negative PCR test results onto the application. Once the application is approved, they will receive a Pure Safe Travel Authorisation Certificate.
Travellers are also required to present an electronic or printed copy of the certificate during check-in at their airports of origin.
The Pure Safe Travel Authorisation application can be accessed on covid19.gov.gd.

You believe they are just telling people in the US don’t come? Where in the US you get back results so quickly? Eh?
With the 7 day PCR test, Grenada still received a few cases recently so I totally understand the need for reform. We have to understand and appreciate their efforts to ensure they get a handle on this pandemic. If you don’t like it, then don’t travel there now or at all. However, there is a way to obtain a PCR test quickly if in New York. Go to nyc.gov/health/covidexpress. If you live outside of the great city, see if your municipality offer the same service.
CVS gets them back in 3 days…but you may not be able to check in for early flight. Afternoon would be better
If you living in Brooklyn you can get a test and result at 555 leffert ave Brooklyn 11225 in one hour. I took my dad on Friday and he fly to grenada in Saturday. Check it out if you have no insurance no problem let them know.
Every day/Every week there is a new order from Grenada. Who can keep up? We are in a pandemic people. Why the rush to go Grenada? Unless there is an emergency there is no need. Get stuck down there… good luck!!!!
There are lots of vacation spots where I can spend my money here.
Grenada don’t seem to know what they want. Until then, there is no need to travel. Stay 6 feet apart, wash hands, wear mask
They know what they want, if it’s too much hassle stay where you are. Grenada can’t handle an outbreak of coved here. Plus people DONT follow quarantine measures when they get here. So if you can’t follow protocol don’t come.
We are here right now, and we have never felt more deceived. Grenada’s Ministry of Health website says you can quarantine at your hotel—which to us means you can enjoy the beach, pool, and restaurants— this is a lie. We are not allowed to leave our hotel room AT ALL. We literally paid thousands of dollars to stay in a bedroom and order crappy room service strictly from this hotel [i am from the Caribbean and this food is next level expensive trash]. DO NOT COME TO GRENADA. THEY ARE MISLEADING TOURISTS. So disappointing!
Keep your ass in the UK and USA. Who is travelling or want to travel at this time? Why is people making their heads hard. Who have money to waste at this time?
We are travelling to Grenada from Montreal on Dec 19th. The private lab in Montreal told us they can not guarantee our results in less than 48 hours. That means once we have our results from a pcr test we took 72 hours before traveling (Dec 16th), on Dec 18th, Grenada would have less one day before our flight (Dec 19th) to answer us back and give us our Entry Certificate! The same day we are suppose to travel! Whoofffff! What happens if they don’t answer in time? We will be at the airport all stressed out waiting for our results! If we don’t get it before our flight, we can not board? We lose our flight? This is a bad bad decision!
No need to notify Grenada just need your paperwork printed and your negative test
My understanding is that the ‘paperwork’ (Entry Certificate) would only be provided after we upload our proof of a negative pcr test results during our request for a travelling authorization. Do you think that the paperwork is sent automatically and immediately after we send our request? I was under the impression that someone would verify that the information provided is all there and good and send the travel authorization afterward, which could take some time.
I agree, the way it sounds iis that the airport is going to ask for the certificate now instead of the negative PCR which they were asking before this new rule. I don’t think it will come in time. The only thing you can do is contact them now and tell them your dilemma and give them your date of travel, since you have your tickets. Maybe they can do something else to get you through the checkin process at airport.
They can try this, but it may not work because there are only 3 airlines coming in to Grenada and it is very easy to tell them what they require at checkin….a certificate!!! If a person shows up with their copies of everything…if one of the copies don’t say certificate they won’t get checked in. Most airlines will be fined if they breach a contract with a government by letting someone slip through the cracks. A employee is not going to risk losing their job because of this. Trust me, I worked for one of those airlines that come into Grenada….it won’t happen. So don’t tell people to just show up with copies of papers!!! Bad advise.
It’s like they want to kill tourism yet at the same time no assistance or compensation for anyone in the tourism industry. You following the rest of the world with your protocols you say but unlike USA or Europe you are not assisting those affected….
I seriously doubt these changes will make Grenada any safer but they will certainly hurt a lot of people’s pockets…
We are here now under quarantine. We cant leave our hotel room at all [even though the Ministry of Health website made it seem like we can roam freely about our hotel grounds]. But other guests at our hotel were unmasked—probably people who did the 4th day test. Entire families. I dont see how that makes any sense. They couldve gotten COVID right after the optional 4th day test and walked around this island freely spreading the virus. It’s a damn nonsensical mess.
The 72-hr testing prior to flight is highly unrealistic for the majority of travelers from the USA. Most states currently have a 3-5 day turn-around time frame for results (electronic or printed) from a private lab. Results take 5-7 days if the person uses a public PCR testing center. Having said that, a travel must then process the new Travel Authorization Certificate request which takes 48 hours processing time per MOH. Needless to say, these regulations will hopefully protect Grenada from possible new imported cases, but at the same time, the likelihood of tourism has just been diminished significantly.
Starting Sat Nov 28??
You do know thanksgiving Nov 26 is a big holiday in USA.
Gonna be difficult to get test done next week
Min of Health Grenada you being unreasonable.
We have the same problem as above. Also, I understand the test result needs to be uploaded to the travel authorisation form which has to be submitted at least 48 hours prior to travel. Almost nowhere in the UK will guarantee a 24 hour turnaround of tests which makes it impossible for us to travel to Grenada.
I agree completely. People will simply not travel to Grenada as this procedure would be pushing the limits of time. In the USA, UK and many other countries, people potentially already need to be travelling to the airport BEFORE test results are emailed through to them. So to then have to email them through to Grenada ( with a 4 hour time difference) in order to get their entry certificate, it would just make it an impossible task.
Let’s face it,It’s quite obvious the blind that Grenada does not want any tourism at this point in time read between the lines. Patrons out of Grenada should find alternate vacation destination .I wish them good luck .
We are travelling to Grenada from Canada on a Monday morning. So how is that going to affect us based on the fact the 72 hours allowed lands on a weekend?
Hi, I travelled from Canada to Grenada in October. I did my test at Women’s College Hospital, my test was done the morning and I got my result the evening. Just let them know the purpose and the 72 hours time frame. All the best.
You will get tested at airport, our test we had in Canada expired. Then had second test on day 4.
Treat quarantine with respect and stay healthy.
Not any more!!!! Too many people are testing positive now in Grenada after arrival and within the 4 days of quarantine
