- Government certificate of entry required from 1 December for all incoming travellers
- Website gives online application access for travel entry into Grenada
- Incoming travellers minimum quarantine of 7 days
As of 1 December 2020, all incoming travellers to Grenada will be required to show airline representatives at ports of departure, a certificate of entry from Government before they will be allowed to board the aircraft.
At present, all incoming passengers are required to show a negative Covid-19 PCR test and a place for temporary quarantine while they await the result of on island testing before they can mingle with the citizens.
Health Minister Nickolas Steele announced during Tuesday’s post-Cabinet briefing that the entry certificate will be processed in advance and will become mandatory for entry. “This will be absolutely necessary by 1 December. We are asking individuals to begin the processing now; individuals who have already applied can reapply on the system or use they current acceptance and PCR,” he said.
“We are informing IATA and the airlines of our intention and within 10 days the airlines will begin to enforce,” he said while revealing that the Ministry of Health has launched its new web portal for travel into Grenada. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) supports aviation with global standards for airline safety, security, efficiency, and sustainability.
The site is the same address covid19.gov.gd but now it gives online access for the application for travel entry into Grenada. Steele said that the portal and management software for the incoming passengers is a partnership with the Amber Group out of Jamaica.
The Amber Group is providing a comprehensive and interactive website and mobile application which enables participating Governments to pre-approve travellers and control entry into the country while managing the country’s Covid-19 health cases. Amber’s system is described is one of the world’s first technology health-risk, travel authorisation systems.
The software allows for governments to screen visitors before they arrive in a country; enables the linking of initial screening information entered by a visitor to immigration checkpoints and build a secure digital health folder on each person entering the country.
Among other benefits of the software is the ability for authorised officials to digitally record high-risk cases, isolate where necessary and track those who came in close contact with affected persons to better manage risk.
All applicants to Grenada will have to show proof of the PCR test and paid accommodation before the entry certificate is provided electronically. “Once a person does that, they will receive from the ministry from that website an email copy of an entry certificate. This is what will be used to board any aircraft or airline to come to Grenada,” he said.
All persons entering Grenada will have to undergo a minimum quarantine of 7 days.
V, please come out of that brainless control box
With such a post I guess that you will be one of Grenada first volunteer to take the vaccine and then let the rest of us know the result.
I am a Grenadian working overseas, as above new protocol, it appears that I will not be seeing my home country for yet another year. “A certificate of entry is mandatory’, ‘paid accommodation before entry’, which is so expensive…..’ the system is already slow as is, emails get responded to past 2 days or never. Travel amidst Covid19 is already stressful. It’s so difficult to apply for home quarantine…..I don’t see myself paying hundreds of dollars for hotel when I have an empty house. As someone abrasively said in the comments ” do not come’.. Sad though that as a citizen, I have the same restrictions as a visitor. I totally understand the need to limit the spread of Covid19 cases in the country, I sing the praise of my fellow colleagues in the healthcare system and their high level of public health standards, but these mandatory protocols are very ridgid and stressful. I hope that in the not to distant future the Covid19 situation will improve and I can once again be a Grenadian citizen once again and visit my family, home, and country without all this.
Am Grenadian and i fined Grenadian don’t sopuse to get so much problem to come home am in the UK for holiday and i am ready to come back home and all that stupid things to do to come home why
Hello, greetings from Canada!
Please explain proof of paid accommodation !
My annual visit to Grenada averages 3 months plus , usually staying at an apartment booked through a Grenadian Real Estate Agency.
This, being considered an extended stay , paying the entire rental amount in advance instead of a deposit, usually the first month of owns stay can be a risky venture.
Occasionally accommodations presented by agencies or on line do not always comply with reality. Hence, once fully paid , no leverage remains to negotiate a potential disagreement.
I fully support and respect Grenada’s Health Ministry successful COVID-19 protection regulations, congratulations, stay safe,
All the Best, Ben

Be advised I’m 60 yoa with my own home that is in a remote area and maybe I will not be able to go home. This hotel thing is creating an extra burden of people. Please lobby the government to change this policy. Thanks!!!
My confirmation from the Jamaican authority came back in 24 hours. Once I got the authorization I presented it to the airlines (Caribbean airways) in Barbados and I was on my way to Jamaica. Hopefully the responses will be back quickly so there will be no confusion at the departing location. I also attempted to fill out the online application, once I came to the home quarantine request it advised me that I have to be over the age of 65 to be granted permission. Crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
I went through this same procedure flying from Grenada to Barbados to Florida with connection in Jamaica. my travel was in August. I had to obtain a negative PCR test from Grenada before I could enter Jamaica. Once I got to Jamaica I presented the PCR negative test. Immigration then allowed me to stay at the airport in Kingston overnight without quarantining and I had no problem. I understand that the health of our citizen is of utmost importance but having to force a national to pay to quarantine at a hotel when that individual have their home empty is unnecessary. This behavior is discouraging citizen from coming home for the holidays to spend time with love one’s.
I got chick v when I last visited Grenada, how do I go about suing d government please?
This one is tricky ,but is a good brain teaser ,
On points.
Grenadian Politicians can’t think for themselves. Why do they think I will have so much money that am willing to spend hundreds of dollars to stay in a hotel of their choice and still have to pay for food and drink they think we are all stupid. The time scale is to long to wait for their result. Am sorry family and friends I will not be able to visit till this bull shit about where I am able to isolate stops
Dear the Grenada government needs the money to assist in dealing with the covid stimulus package ,and in doing so it allows the government to aid their cronies in the big hotels by these selected accommodations.
