Grenada Co-operative Bank Limited has commenced preparations for a new and exciting version of its 13th annual Pump it Up! celebrations, which will run for 7 weeks from 15 March 2021 and culminate with a National Pump it Up! day on Friday, 30 April 2021.
The Bank will continue its commitment of raising funds toward the re-establishment of services at the Carlton Home rehabilitation centre for substance abusers. This effort continues to be made jointly with the esteemed benefactors – Hubbard’s, Flow, Guardian General Insurance, Antillean Group, and Coyaba Beach Resort, as well as Waggy T Rentals, and Body Image, who joined the group of benefactors in 2020.
Last year, Co-op Bank decided to cancel the 2020 walk due to the onset of the Covid- 19 pandemic and resulting restrictions. The Bank has again taken the decision to refrain from having a physical walk in 2021. However, to keep Pump it Up! in the minds of community members, Co-op Bank endeavours to hold a series of activities that will continue to surround family and fun and will focus on simple healthy lifestyle choices.
There will be several exercise challenges including step count competitions and circuit activities, suitable for all ages. Additionally, the Bank will air the first-ever Pump it Up! video series, which seeks to raise awareness of the challenges associated with substance abuse, highlight the importance of the Carlton Home and promote the benefits of healthy lifestyle activities on overall health.
This year, the package, which includes a T-shirt and giveaway, will be sold for ECD$15 each and will be noted as an individual donation for each purchaser, allowing patrons a direct contribution toward the re-establishment of the Carlton Home.
Registration commences on Monday, 15 March 2021, both at the Bank’s corporate website and its Retail Banking Units, and will be done following all relevant Covid-19 protocols.
With the fund for the re-establishment of the Carlton Home now standing at $324,800, Co-op Bank hopes that at the end of this year’s activities, the benefactors and community members would raise an additional $135,000, steadily approaching the target of $500,000.
Since 2009, the proceeds of the Pump it Up! Family Fun Walk have benefited different health-related charities such as the Grenada Heart Foundation, Grenada Diabetes Association, Grenada Kidney Foundation, Sickle Cell Association of Grenada, Grenada Cancer Society, Pink Ribbon Society, and Lupus Foundation of Grenada. As the Bank celebrates its 13th annual event in a different format, it remains committed to promoting vibrant and physically active lifestyles, encouraging preventative approaches to health issues, and sharing information concerning health matters as part of its Healthier Lifestyles Programme.
