The Grenada/Trinidad connection reaches back many, many decades. This fact supports the statement often made that all Grenadians have family in Trinidad & Tobago, and vice versa.
An example of this is the Hanover Construction Company Limited which was founded in Trinidad in 1996. It is now the parent company of the Hanover Construction Company Grenada Limited, Caribbean Construction (Grenada) Limited & Caribbean Heavy Equipment (Grenada) Limited.
The decision to expand its operations and relationship with Grenada was derived due to proximity, socio-economic, education and cultural commonalities, which have always existed between the 2 islands. Twenty-five years of experience in the field of construction has furnished Hanover with considerable expertise and resources in the areas of; engineering, financing, project management, as well as a large fleet of heavy equipment, all of this is supported by efficient management capabilities.
Several outstanding examples of public sector projects undertaken by the organisation around Grenada are: The Construction of Roads & Bridges – Lots 1, 2 & 3 (Feeder Roads Upgrade Network Project), Beausejour Early Childhood Development Centre, Paradise Pre-primary School, Willis Playing Field and Bishops College on the sister island of Carriacou.
Placing strong emphasis on sharing experience and expertise, Hanover is training members of their team, from various local communities, in both the theoretical and practical aspects of its operations. Local junior engineers and technicians have been engaged, who are receiving training by working alongside the Senior Construction and Project Management team.
Chairman Anand Persad stated: “We’re very proud of our policies around learning and sharing. These really allow us to assist in creating opportunities for growth and development, both for smaller contractors and individuals. This model also allows us to make a meaningful contribution towards increasing the local capacity in our own areas of expertise. Grenada is home for us now, and we are ready and able to support both the public and private sectors in the thrust to improve and develop Grenada’s infrastructure, as it positions itself to expand its economy,” he concluded.
