Statement on allegations made by Warren Newfield

The Government of Grenada takes very seriously the allegations made by Warren Newfield, who tendered his resignation on Thursday, as Ambassador-at-Large and Grenada’s Consul General in Florida.

In his resignation letter, Newfield described the Grenada Government as “an anti-business regime” that disregards investors’ rights and breaches agreements.

It must be noted that there has been no recent change in Government policy on business operations and investment. Therefore, the accusations are seen as a clear attempt to hurt the country and the Government. In fact, in recent years, Government has seen a marked increase in the level of investment in the country, with several major private sector projects currently underway in various parts of the country.

Government asserts that it was investigations into matters relating to Newfield’s Kimpton Kawana Bay project that triggered the “anti-business” allegation. In light of its concerns, Government has already approached an independent auditor to investigate the matter.

Government is keen to ensure that all money invested into projects under the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme, are in fact used in accordance with the provisions of the country’s Citizenship by Investment Act. In so doing, Government further seeks to protect the integrity of the CBI programme, ensuring greater accountability and transparency in the execution of projects and safeguarding the resources of investors.

Grenada’s CBI Programme remains one of the most respected in the world, with ongoing increases in the number of applications. Due diligence and accountability form the nucleus of the programme and all CBI developers, marketing agents and local agents are required to comply with Grenada’s law.

The booming economy was the envy of the region now the CBI the best in the world? When will Grenada cease its baseless bragging? The best soil we have as claimed yet agriculture gets the worse treatment

Just as in The Turks & Caicos as well as again in more recent corruption in Curaçao; there needs to be and there will be Day of Reckoning for what is really going on in Grenada under the Mitchell led Regime.

Whether it can be in fact anti-business or dirty business or plain outright case of kickback requests from those living high on the hog Politicians; the way of life for these boys is Corruption that is a way of life for these fat cats getting wealthy, kickbacks and ongoing dirty demands for bribes & fat envelopes.

When Government Ministers with more Titles on their business cards that can not even fit neatly on their name tags or business cards run their own multi – Projects via the CBI sales of Official Passports and their wife’s own selling of them Passports for fat fees; something is really wrong and where are issues of Conflict of Interest ? Nepotism takes over Corruption to fill that cookie jar & let it overflow it with goodies. This is Corruption that is as bad as it possibly can get + Worse.

Our people in the Diaspora always had highest Respect for Warren Newfield.

Yet unsure of these issues here but in way too many cases, if the Investors do not line the pockets and refuse to provide ongoing Kickbacks to the Party Boys – they get the rug pulled out from under them.

This is a pattern from the past and present that TI is being informed on, as this is a
of how business goes on in the world of the Kieth. Alarming !!!

That whole CBI thing is a big joke; just a means for those high up to line their pockets. One minute Newfield praises the programme then next he quits his Ambassador post. DeAllie leaves and Clouden. Up to now we can’t see transformation of the country will all that money that allegedly went into the National Transformation Fund. Something is amiss in that CBI programme.
