Having successfully started the new engine for the first time, the Grenlec team is preparing to put the engine into full service over the next week.
During the installation period over the past 11 weeks, special civil, mechanical and electrical works have been completed in preparation for the commissioning of the new generator, which will increase the Company’s overall power generation capacity to 52MW.
Clive Hosten, Grenlec’s Chief Engineer notes, “We are fortunate to have had a competent installation team and we look forward to the engine going into full service.”
Over the next 3 weeks, there is the possibility of unplanned service interruptions as the team integrates the new engine into its operating system.
“We want customers to be aware that while Grenlec is making every effort to avoid inconvenience, it is not unusual for some disruptions to customers’ service during the commissioning as the team resolves unforeseen challenges that may arise.” Hosten added, “Having prepared customers for the possibility of outages, we hope the preparatory work our team has done will facilitate a smooth integration with little to no service interruptions.”
The Company anticipates that the new engine will be commissioned before the end of September.
Grenlec apologises for any inconvenience that may arise and assures customers of its continued commitment to reliably serving Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Grenlec
Folks, check it out.
New generator is 52 MW is pure renewable energy initiative from PURC and Grenlec. Guys, you are genious.
Please follow the rational:
1- Grenada consume over 50% of his energy during day time
2- Average household use 8KWh/24 hours (4KWh day time and 4KWh night time)
3- That generator could provide electricity to 13,000 home during the night. This is a huge fossil fuel battery.
4- During the day a rooftop/ground mount Solar system with 8 panels will provide electricity to 26,000 houses (4+4) with a ROI of 26 months.
5- CO2 is cut by 50% until geothermal system suck the rest
6- No new infrastructure is required. Solar system feeds next door house during the day.
7- to make sense, a real NetMetering scheme should be implemented.
8- Who is fool enough to invest his own money to subside Grenlec, a government authority (service) by giving back 25% of his investement?
I am surprised Keith Mitchell did not try to stop this very sensible cost effective Fossil Fuel energy Generation plant. Obviously someone at Grenlec is using their loaf, so all power to the people
Lord knows with Mitchell recent preaching on about Zero Carbon fantasy….. in his mund everything will ultimately have to be run on power from sunshine and hotair. All to satisfy the Climate Change Cult and the nutjobs at the UN and its IPCC fraudsters and their delusional hubris to lower Global Climate Temperature by 1.5 degrees.
More waste of resources and increased poverty will be the actual outcome if they get their way
What the world need is more Carbon to grow more food. So all Hail Fossil Fuel!
Now get more Generators that burn garbage as fuel to produce power, thats what I call good Environmentalism.
What drugs are you on dude. The only sensible thing you said there was that they should find a way to burn garbage, which is done elsewhere. But obviously cant be done with one of the most inefficient and expensive generating methods… burrning oil. I guess you like paying through the nose for your utilities.
The drug that I am on, are the ones free of the Climate Change Koolaid, which I suspect you are gulping down.
Just like the Covid Cult propaganda which Now Grenada allow here, yet actively Censoring those like myself with an evidence based contrary view of the current Covid Hysteria Scam, its no surprise many have swallowed the Global Warming Cult and Climate Change Hysteria Scam …of blame bad Carbon, and advocate for Zero Carbon BS.
By the way, its because I like the practical, cheap, affordable and abundant Fossil Fuels, which help free millions from poverty annually among other things, is why I advocate strongly for a mixed Energy source, that uses all the cheap Carbon based fuel sources we are fortunate to have here on Earth.
My guess….like many, you are brainwashed to the fear Carbon when in facts Carbon is a blessing and not a curse for Planet Earth.
I am sure if I were to ask you exactly what you fear about Carbon and Fossil Fuel you have no real knowledge to support your phobia. Its not drugs but Fossil Fuel that power me.
