- Massive contact tracing after confirmation of latest Covid-19 diagnosis
- Health authorities have confirmed that there are individuals who have submitted fake documents to gain entry
- Case 170 is a female in her 20s who arrived in Grenada on Monday, 26 July 2021
Grenada has commenced a massive contact tracing of individuals after confirmation of its latest Covid-19 diagnosis. It involved a vaccinated individual who entered the island with a negative PCR test, also tested negative during the 48 hours mandatory quarantine, but tested positive after taking a test in preparation to depart the island.
“Upon detection of the positive result following testing on August 3, the Ministry of Health verified the test result, with a second test at another laboratory and immediately embarked on the requisite contact tracing efforts. So far, only one contact has been isolated and tested, the result of which is not yet known,” said Dr Shawn Charles Acting Chief Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health said in a statement late Wednesday.
Labelled as case 170, the person is a female in her 20s who arrived in Grenada on Monday, 26 July 2021. She reportedly visited 10 different locations. Dr Charles said that she is experiencing congestion and her identified contact, a family member, is also experiencing mild congestion. The test result of that family member is not yet known.
At present, there are 4 active cases in Grenada all of whom are imported cases. The records are showing that most of Grenada’s cases are imported from destinations such as the USA and UK. The authorities recently changed the entry protocol to allow for fully vaccinated incoming passengers to spend 48 hours in quarantine once the Covid-19 PCR test that is administered immediately upon arrival is negative.
Health authorities have confirmed that there are individuals who have submitted fake documents to gain entry but were caught and charged with fraud/forgery.
Crazy they need to go back to previous policy…as shouldn’t matter if vaccinated or not, still can spread to others..so much discrimination against a person who chooses what they put in their body& punished for it
It is well known that North America, Europe and even some Caribbean Island are deemed high risk per coronavirus presence and individual infection rates.
But the relative to the above story the real question now presents: what if that person contracted the virus on island?
What I understand is that the person left the US with a negative PCR test..After testing in Grenada she had a negative PCR test That tells me she did not leave the US with a fake negative test or the test conducted in Grenada was also fake. In my opinion the possibility exist that she got the virus in Grenada. Grenadians need to wake up and start getting vaccinated. No one is saying you would not get the virus if you are vaccinated but it will help you in your suffering if you did get it
A vaccinated person with coronavirus…this is well documented that coronavirus doesn’t care whether you vaccinated or not!
So the policy of only vaccinated visitors to enter Grenada is nonsense as they too can get coronavirus and pass it on to others.
The previous policy are PCR tests and quarantine was OK and fair.
Ministry for health, let’s just say
‘Commonsense’ is not prevailing here!
nobody said vaccinated people couldn’t get the virus — rather, vaccinated people won’t DIE from the virus. That’s why you should take the jab. We can’t stay in an isolated bubble forever.
totally agree
vaccination is what will allow us all to view covid the same as the ‘flu and get on with our lives.
it’s not going away and who wants to live in a world where every positive test result can cause chaos and disruption?
Are you God? Who’s to say someone won’t die if they are vaccinated and still contract the virus? The virus continues to mutate and has numerous strains. What they inject you with may “protect” you against one strain but not another. As a matter of fact, have you been following the news which shows that there are persons who have been vaccinated, contracted the virus and did die? The vaccine is not a savior and we need to stop treating it as one.
Uhmmmm and she fully vaccinated which further confirms that vaccinated people can still contract and spread the virus. What happened to the “so-called science” of the # of days before the virus manifests. Had she been kept in quarantine for at least 7 days it would have been caught while in quarantine and not after she mingled with society.
But no. Minster Lord-haise Steel feel thr vaccine in the saviour so go on man.
