Grenada recorded 7 Covid-19 deaths in a single day, increasing the country’s total from 5 to 12.
The deceased, all of whom had comorbidities, were confirmed cases of Covid-19, ranging in age from 26 to 85 years.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed that 5 of the deaths were among patients admitted to the General Hospital, with one death at the Princess Alice Hospital and the seventh person dying at home.
Data provided by the Ministry of Health indicates that 4 of the deceased are females and 3 males. 4 of the deceased were residents of St George, while the remaining 3 were from St Andrew.
Health officials have also confirmed that the majority of deaths being recorded is among the unvaccinated. The Ministry of Health continues to encourage Grenadians to get vaccinated as this reduces the risk of severe disease, hospitalisation and death attributed to Covid-19.
At the time of this release, more than 20 Covid-19 positive patients are hospitalised, with a few of them listed in critical condition.
The Ministry of Health and by extension, the Government of Grenada extends the deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased.

Sgu opening is the problem too
that’s why you wear masks, sanitize and social distance.
Are these persons not receiving ANY medical care? RGPF nit even having medical followup on staff members who positive and isolated. You need a nurse or someone to be in contact in case these persons require hospital care.
Grenadines please act responsible and save lives..
Partying causes this problem and you stupidity. Realistically the situation in grenada in dreadful and face up to the reality of what the islands are facing.
Get vaccination nowand stop this now!!
Think of the UK ,USA and India covid 19 crisis. Please do no allow this to take place in grenada.
My friends please wise up immediately and ignore social media fake messages.
Think of yourselfs and your family, then Think of others.
The Chickens have come home to Roost!
A line has been crossed. What Grenadians will experience in the next two weeks will be the worst they ever experienced thus far in their lifetimes, much worse than Janet, Ivan, the American invasion and all its attendant killings and murders rolled in one. There won’t be felled trees, smashed houses, and fatalities as witnesses: but the rising case numbers, their intimate effects on families and communities, the rising number of hospitalizations and deaths, food shortages, further restrictions on movement and interaction will be an even worse spectacle. Vaccination is the surest way to prevent this dystopia. Stop listening to (and repeating) chupidness: Get vaccinated. Please.
Amen.
Grenada govt should contact India for Ivermectin to begin treating Grenadians
to prevent Corvid 19 . Start giving the people at the earliest sign of the sickness.
India manufactures Ivermectin and has used it very successfully on its people
in spite of all the negative press in the U.S.
Invermectin is a worming medicine for farm animals. It does not cure Coronavirus. Hospitals in the USA are having increasing numbers of people being admitted for overdosing on Invermectin. Does it give you pleasure to share your false misinformation? You should be ashamed of yourself, there are too many people like you that are believed by many gullible people. You are contributing to the spread of the disease.
Nice words you are so right
What you say has some truth to it however It sounds/reads like you are blaming vaccinated people for the current spike. Let’s not pretend to not know how this got out of hand. Most people who were conscious enough to get vaccinated are avoiding large gatherings, wearing masks and are adhering to the protocols.
Unvaccinated people can also be symptomatic and are also carriers. Many unvaccinated persons who have covid 19 are asymptomatic. They are more likely to transmit the virus than unvaccinated. Get the facts straight and stop spreading misleading.
Vaccinated people can be healthy carriers. They are not feeling sick so they are going all over the place (work, visiting family etc). Most people when they are sick stay at home and lay down etc. The ones up and about ate contributing to the spread… let’s not forget that too….. cause they can be infected and because they don’t have symptoms they go about thinking they are fine when in fact they can be spreading it.
Anyone can be a “healthy carrier”. Vaccinated or not. Follow protocols, wear a mask properly. Wash, sanitize and distance. STOP the blame game. Everyone must be responsible and respectful.
Hence why you can not know who is spreading it, hence why it’s best to get vaccinated in the first place….
One reason more to get the jab
That’s the plan truth. It is scary because you can be asymptomatic. Vaccinated or not masks need to be worn, social distancing needs to be continued and quarantine protocols has to be strictly followed. And for God sake and all Grenadian sake close that boarder.
But that’s my point. All the blame is on the unvaccinated when the reality is any asymptomatic person can be a healthy carrier and spread it. The bottom line is protocols are not being followed. Look at the crowd for testing saturday gone… there was absolutely no social distancing at spice land mall. The people who tested positive were told to go home and quarantine… same ministers not wearing mask. In addition, no permission should have been given for fetes….. there was no one checking who vaccinated and who not…. I saw people from the diaspora in the videos circulating and they were mingling with the local unvaccinated and some tested positive on departure….so it’s not about things being made up… it what happened and helped the spread. People just need to be responsible. I have to keep telling people in the supermarket line not to come close to me it’s 6 ft distance and they don’t care so stop the crap about vaccine it is more than that.
A little late to close the border. You forget, we have community spread. The only thing left for us to do is to follow the protocols, get vaccinated and stop being experts and playing the blame game.
