An International Organisation is recruiting for the position of Public Engagement Assistant.
Incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Principal Officer (PO) at US Embassy Grenada and under the review of the Public Affairs Officer at US Embassy Bridgetown. Monitors regional press and media coverage of importance to the US; identifies and advises US Embassy leadership in Grenada and Bridgetown on strategies for promoting accurate, balanced regional media coverage of US foreign policy and American interests, correcting misinformation, and countering disinformation; is the leading local strategist/advisor responsible for post’s Public Diplomacy engagement with established opinion leaders and emerging voices, including youth, influential individuals and institutions such as think tanks, syndicates, labour unions, professional associations, civil society organisations, and professional training institutions. Designs and recommends strategies to connect with a range of audiences to build and sustain productive dialogue and promote understanding of and support for US policy.
University degree in political science, economics, international relations, journalism, communications, and American Studies or at least 2 years of college or university studies is required.
At least 4 to 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a multicultural, multinational, academic, or governmental work environment, with responsibility for public relations, public affairs, journalism, communications, marketing, managing public relations, outreach events and other media interactions as significant parts of the job is required.
