The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) is aware of several individuals and groups who are engaging in illegal gatherings for social activities such as beach limes, wakes and happy hours.
Several reports of businesses allowing patrons to consume alcoholic beverages on their premises and other public spaces have also been received and observed. All of the preceding is in direct violation of the Emergency Powers (Covid-19) Regulations.
Regulation 13, sub-regulation (1) states “No person shall host or attend any social activity of any description, including a wedding” and sub-regulation (3) “For avoidance of doubt, there shall be no wakes or happy hour activities”.
Further, Regulation 9, sub-regulation (3) states “there shall be no consumption of alcohol in or in the vicinity of any shop, grocery store or establishment or in any public place”.
Business owners, individuals who engage in illegal social activities, and citizens who consume alcohol in public places are reminded that these practices constitute an offence that carries penalties. They are further admonished to desist from such practices.
Should these violations continue, the response from the RGPF will be urgent and decisive to ensure compliance with the regulations.
Office of Commissioner of Police
Another round of continued threats and disproportionate application of ad hoc “laws.”
So what does this mean? Lots of people are driving around after 7 pm and not being charged. Lots of people not wearing masks… Are they being charged?
The three challenges we now face: 1. Lax mask wearing. 2. Loose adherence to social distancing and 3. Waning vaccine efficacy. The police need to address the first two. The MOH has to take care of the third.
Why do Now Grenada, remove posts that they do not seem to like the opinion off ?????
Prime minister all over the world looking at Dem county,y all what Grenada prime minister do some people don’t like it,well dam is life go pm go pm and keep up the great work in the Dem island ️️️
What are they talking about here, so can you not drink alcohol in a bar or restaurant……thought you could if fully vaccinated, is this is the Gestapo operating in Grenada.
I think Keith Mitchel has now become a dictator and is following Robert Mugabe’s lead, destroying the Grenadian economy, by loving the power he has.
What happened to the Grenadian constitution. Very sad times, but nothing to do with Covid, just politicians and power in a small island.
So sad to see the vague decrees being issued. We visited in September and you have a beautiful island that hopefully we will return to see in all its splendour,. Why are hotels such as Sandals allowed to serve drinks on the beach from dawn till dusk, a total hypocrisy, although I do accept the rigorous testing of visitors reduces some risk.
In the UK we have increased identification of cases but not such a big increase in hospitalisations, the reality is that Covid is here to stay and we mus5 get used to living with it and without imposing draconian measures .
