The lighting project of the Hillsborough Playing Field in Carriacou, to which the Chinese Embassy in Grenada contributed EC$48,000 (a third of the total cost), was officially commissioned on last Friday, 12 November 2021.
The Chinese Embassy in Grenada is delighted to see the completion of this project and recognises the efforts and dedication of the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, as it stands as a new signpost for the practical cooperation between China and Grenada, and we are sure that this project will significantly benefit the people, especially the youngsters, in Carriacou.
The Chinese Embassy in Grenada puts its confidence in a sound bilateral relationship between the 2 countries not only because of the consolidated political mutual trust, but also because of the inclusiveness that figures — the benefits of our practical cooperation are extended to Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Taking notice of Grenada Government’s recent actions in fixing roads and facilitating the development of agriculture and fisheries in Carriacou and Petite Martinique, the Chinese Embassy in Grenada wishes to applaud Grenada for its continuous commitment to its people, which is a philosophy both countries share — putting people first. This is why China offered to build 100 units of low-income housing in Carriacou and we are convinced that the positive influence of doing so is multi-faceted — it improves people’s living conditions, steps up the infrastructure development and more importantly, serves as a symbol of friendship between China and Grenada. Moreover, the Chinese Embassy in Grenada attaches great importance to the development of children and support to the elders during the pandemic and has donated a pile of digital equipment and medical supplies to the local Child Development Centre and daily necessities to the Tophill Senior Citizen’s home in Carriacou as well as a batch of stationery to an elementary school in Petite Martinique for the benefits of the children.
This Covid-19 pandemic serves as a testament to how everyone in the world are closely intertwined with each other and how important lending a helping hand is when others are in distress. As the world is gradually becoming a community with a shared future, China and Grenada should further step up our cooperation in building resilience and farsightedness, and work together for the betterment of our two peoples.
