Grenlec working to resolve labour dispute

9 June 2022
in Business, PRESS RELEASE
1 min. read

Grenada Electricity Services Ltd. is notifying customers about potential service delays related to actions taken by some team members represented by the Grenada Technical and Allied Workers’ Union (GTAWU).

The situation relates to ongoing negotiations for salaries and benefits for the period 2018-2023, which started in April 2022.

Following a meeting between the Union and Company on 8 June 2022, the Company gave permission for team members to attend a meeting with GTAWU between 8 am and 10 am on 9 June.

Some team members did not report for duty following the time allocated for the meeting. This is the second time in less than a month that some GTAWU members have elected to withdraw their labour.

Grenlec notes that the Company has made significant concessions in the interest of resolving the issue and minimising service disruptions.

The Company is disappointed that GTAWU is taking industrial action, without following the grievance procedure.
