Position: Senior Technical Advisor for Climate-Resilient Water Management

Employer: The German Development Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, (GIZ) GmbH; Programme “G-CREWS ”

Place and Schedule: Full time; Project office in Grenada, occasional regional or international missions

Duration: August 2022 until July 2024, with possibility for extension

Duties:

  • Independently managing various project components focusing on mainstreaming climate resilience into water-related sectors, renewable energies, and water loss reduction
  • Technical planning advice for infrastructure measures within the national water supply system incl. the support for health centres, the integration of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), the implementation of emergency plans and the occupational health and safety
  • Providing professional advice to partners and cooperating with stakeholders to improve synergy effects and sustainability
  • Support the adaptation, review, and development process of the change of commission for the second half of the programme period
  • Technical management of local, regional, and international experts in the respective components

Profile requirements

  • Qualifications:Masters/MSc or doctorate related to water, civil engineering, or disaster management with a focus on water supply, water loss reduction and/ or climate-water-energy nexus
    • Professional Experience and required competencies
    • 10-15 years professional experience, with at least 5 years professional experience in a comparable position
    • 5 years professional working experience in public utility services or in the private sector, with a proven track record in managing water supply and infrastructure projects
    • 5 years experience in project management, change processes and/ or multi-stakeholder coordination
  • Languages and applications:Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies, including AutoCAD, Geoinformation Systems and database management
    • Very good analytical and writing skills
    • Excellent communication and networking skills
    • Ability to work in a team
    • Fluent written and oral knowledge of English
    • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
    • Valid driver’s licence or willingness to acquire one
