It is with heavy hearts that the Government and people of Grenada received news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Head of State of Grenada.
Prime Minister the Honourable Dickon Mitchell expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolences to His Majesty The King, The Queen Consort and all Members of the Royal Family on behalf of the Government and people of Grenada.
“I am sincerely saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As Head of the Commonwealth, Her Majesty’s steady leadership helped to unite people and countries from around the globe in common cause, and for this, Queen Elizabeth II will always be remembered. We mourn her passing and will continue to honour her legacy.”
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne on 6 February 1952. At the time of her passing, Her Majesty was the longest ruling Monarch in British history.
As a mark of respect, flags throughout the State will be flown at half-mast until the date of Her Majesty’s funeral.

A sad day and I just hope that her legacy which is The Commonwealth, holds steady and fast so we an all help each other.
I hope not. During our invasion in 83’ and our governed general ask her and her government for help, they ignored and refused to help us and then they got mad when the USA came in to help. Hopefully the commonwealth will find ways to help and support each other without them.
It was us who asked for independence so in the end we got the independence we wanedt and if things went south we should be left to deal with the consequences. Furthermore the USA only intervened because it was in their best interest. So I do not understand what point you are trying to make.
To right sir
The prime minister of Grenada thank you for your condolences of the passing Queen Elizabeth of the commonwealth
God bless you and all the people of Grenada we love you all.

Finally a statement from the PM… took him long enough… a good statement, if a bit late. We mourn our dear queen… let us pray for our new King.
