Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell left Grenada earlier today, Tuesday 29 April, to attend the Caricom–Mexico Summit in Merida, on a private plane courtesy the Mexican Government. He is accompanied by Grenada’s Ambassador to Caricom, Dr Patrick Antoine.
On Sunday last, the Mexican Ambassador to the Caribbean, HE Luis Manuel Lopez Moreno, came to Grenada to speak directly with Prime Minister Mitchell. Mexico has pledged US 5 Million Dollars to assist Grenada in the reconstruction of its Parliament building, as well as to assist in rebuilding the National Library.
A number of regional leaders will attend the Caricom–Mexico Summit to discuss the way forward for the cooperation between Mexico and Caribbean states.
Deputy Prime Minister Elvin Nimrod is the Acting Prime Minister, as well as Minister of Finance. The Prime Minister returns to Grenada late tomorrow night, Wednesday 30 April.
