One of the bridges which serves the farmers in the area of Dumfries in Carriacou required urgent infrastructural repairs since its collapse from a truck.
The Dumfries Bridge is frequently used by approximately 75% of the island’s farmers in that area including farmers at the Dumfries Estates, as well as both local and visiting tourists who enjoy our historical sites and ruins in Dumfries.
The Dumfries Bridge has been repaired and is now in full operation.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Labor, Legal Affairs, Carriacou and Petite Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Elvin Nimrod, said that although a significant amount of work in road development have taken place on the sister-isle, there’s still a lot more to be done.
He further added that for this year, the Ministry has begun its infrastructural works responding to urgent requests for repairs and rehabilitation. However, major road construction projects for the 2015 year will begin soon.
