An announcement regarding the Office of the Governor General will be among high on the agenda when Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell delivers his first Official National Address to the Nation tonight, Tuesday, 9 April 2013.
“Inclusive in the address, the Prime Minister will announce plans for the reading of the 2013 National Budget,” said an information bulletin from the Government Information Service.
The newly elected Dr Keith Mitchell New National Party which was voted into office following the 19 February General Elections has until 30 April 2013 to present and approve a budget in the Parliament.
The Ministry of Finance, on Thursday 04 April 2013, wrapped up its series of consultations for the 2013 Budget. During the consultations a wide cross section of stakeholders participated in the discussions. They included farmers, fishermen, the business community, the bankers association and non governmental organisations.
The 2013 Budget will be presented to Parliament in the coming weeks under the theme: “Restoring Hope, Building the New Economy, and Investing in Our People.”
With regards to the position of Governor General it is expected that the current holder of the post will demit office in the coming weeks and a female will be named.
The much anticipated National Address is scheduled to air at 8.00 p.m on all Local Radio and Television Stations.
