Hilton Barbados Resort has announced the appointment of Shireene Mathlin-Tulloch as director of operations.
With over 20 years of experience in the tourism industry, Mathlin-Tulloch joins Hilton Barbados Resort after serving as group director of operations for 12 years at a hospitality company on the island.
In her new post, Mathlin–Tulloch is responsible for leading the operational heads of departments in all daily activity with a particular focus on driving service and quality levels, ensuring that Hilton Worldwide standards of operational excellence are maintained.
Mathlin–Tulloch started her career in the early 1990s as a marketing officer at the Grenada Board of Tourism before moving onto the position of sales representative at the Board’s New York office.
Since then, her hospitality experience has run the full gamut, from small luxury boutique hotels to large internationally branded properties across the region, holding positions such as general manager, operations consultant, front office manager, assistant front office manager and guest services manager.
Mathew Mullan, general manager, Hilton Barbados Resort, welcomed Mathlin–Tulloch to the hotel’s team and said: “We are happy to name Shireene as our new director of operations. We are confident that her extensive years of experience in the industry will be an asset to our team as we continue to build on the strong reputation of the Hilton Barbados Resort brand.”
Mathlin–Tulloch holds a Master of Science degree in Tourism Marketing from the University of Surrey, England and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus.
Looking forward to her post at Hilton Barbados Resort, Mathlin–Tulloch explained that it was the perfect opportunity for her to advance her career as an hotelier, noting that her previous experience within the industry, which exposed her to various operational areas, will be a great asset in her carrying out her day to day duties.
“As one of the largest resorts on the island,” she said. “Hilton Barbados Resort will enable me to apply the skills I have successfully honed over the years on a much larger scale. It is my firm belief that the fundamental tenets of hotel management that have been ingrained in me can be applied successfully here.”
