The Government of Grenada continues to make every effort to provide immediate relief for the residents of Gouyave who have been affected by a devastating fire on the night of Saturday, 8 March 2014.

The residents have been provided with basic materials such as foodstuff, medication, sleeping material, clothing and other items.

At a meeting held by the committee set up to address the situation on Wednesday, 12 March 2014, the following was:

  1. The Government will partner with interest groups and the general population to rebuild the houses that were destroyed, and to assist with repairs to the houses that were damaged by the fire
  2. A concert will be held in Gouyave at the end of March to raise funds to assist the families affected
  3. Bank account #121004900 at the Grenada Cooperative Bank Ltd., is now active so that citizens can make their monetary contributions to the rebuilding process
  4. Citizens wishing to make contributions of foodstuff, clothing and other items can call the Gouyave Catholic Church on 444-8255 to arrange drop item off.

For additional information, please call Mrs. Victoria Hughes, Public Relations Officer at NaDMA on 440-8390.

NaDMA wishes to thank all citizens, businesses, and organisations that have already made contributions to the families affected by the tragic fire.
