Grenada Takes Gold And Silver At CISC Championship

Grenadian swimmers Katie Lillie and Kerry Ollivierre captured gold and silver medals respectively at the just concluded XX Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships, held at the Aquatic Centre, Barbados from 27 June to 7 July.

The Grenada team included Katie Lillie (Girls 111-12), Mia Benjamin (Girls 13-14), Delron Felix and Kerry Ollivierre (Boys 13-14), Oreoluwa Cherebin (Girls 15-17) and Corey Ollivierre (Boys 15-17), Manager Pamela Cherebin and Coach Gerson Fernandez.

Katie Lillie won gold in the 400m Girls with a personal best of 4.46.47. She made several finals and posted some personal best times. Kerry Ollivierre won silver in the 50m Breast, with a personal best of 32.18. He also made some finals with personal and amazing swims.

Corey Ollivierre, Oreoluwa Cherebin and Delron Felix made several finals, posted some personals best times with some fantastic swims and added points to team Grenada. Mia Benjamin had some good swims and posted some personal best times.

Coach Fernandez was very pleased with their performance. “GASA is very happy with the team’s performance and thank God, GOC, parents and all other sponsors and supporters for their part in the success of our swimmers.”  GASA is the Grenada Amateur Swimming Association.
