He then moved to the St David’s Catholic Secondary in 2002, where he remained until 2012. During his time at that school, he was the head of the mathematics and science departments and in 2005 he was promoted to vice principal. Following this, he was promoted to Principal of the J W Fletcher Catholic Secondary School, in 2012, where he remained until his current post.
“I commit myself to education — my working life and beyond that,” Morain said.
Morain’s other contributions in the field of education include being a representative on the District 4 Management Team (2013 – 2014), Catholic Education Board of Management and Public Relations Officer of the Grenada Association of Principals of Secondary Schools (2013 – 2015).
In terms of the impact he hopes to make during his new appointment, Morain said, “I am here really to work together, to mobilize efforts, to make sure that we have an Education system that can take us to the next level.”
Morain was also involved as a trustee of the Grenada Union of Teachers (GUT); was the GUT representative on the Grenada Trade Union Council and Chair of the Education and Research Committee (2013 to 2014).
Morain is also active on a community level and currently serves as Vice President of the St David’s Cricket Council; is the treasurer of the St David’s Parish Sports Council and president of the St David’s Catholic Secondary School Past Pupils Association.
The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development looks forward to a productive and beneficial working relationship with its new Chief Education Officer (Ag.).
