The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment has been informed of the importation into Grenada of repackaged uncertified seeds without the requisite documentation through the Postal and Courier Services.

The Plant Protection Act (CAP 242 – Section 4.1) stipulates that no person shall import — offer for importation any plant, part without the authority of a permit issued by the Minister, consequently making the action illegal. The act also specifies fines for violating this provision.

As a consequence therefore and with immediate effect, please report all consignments of plant material to the Ministry of Agriculture or the Pest Management Unit so that the appropriate actions could be taken.

Please be guided accordingly.
