Mr Javan Williams, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, is attending a three-day forum on the future of the Caribbean: Disruptive thinking, bold action, practical outcomes.

The forum is taking place at the University of the West Indies St Augustine Campus, and the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Trinidad and Tobago.

The forum seeks to address a number of critical questions on matters relating to, and affecting the Caribbean and Caribbean people.

These include: the limits of Caribbean convergence, economics, politics or both, how can the Caribbean generate the political will to drive convergence and can the Caribbean optimally position itself to benefit from the rapidly progressing global convergence agenda.

The forum examines how the renewed US-Cuba relations impact the Caribbean, and how can the region deepen integration with Latin America, among other questions.

Mr Williams is among other Caribbean nationals participating in the forum on the invitation of the Trinidad and Tobago’s Foreign Affairs Minister, the Hon. Winston Dookeran.
