The Media Workers Association of Grenada (MWAG) has new leadership as of Saturday, 20 May 2017.
Members came out in their numbers to make nominations and cast their votes for a new executive body to lead the association for the next year. The election process was conducted by an independent source.
Former President of MWAG, Shere-Ann Noel, and her executive team, used the opportunity to present their outgoing reports to the members present. Their major achievements, including getting short-term courses for media workers, and media awards among others, were highlighted.
MWAG’s new executive is:
President | Kern Mason, Freelance Sports Journalist |
1st Vice-President | Curlan Campbell, Reporter at Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) |
2nd Vice-President | Delroy Louison, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Social Development |
Secretary | Donella Hosten, Journalist at NOW Grenada |
Assistant Secretary | Rickisha St Louis, Information Officer at Grenada Information Service (GIS) |
Treasurer | Shere-Ann Noel, Television Producer at Flow1 News |
The youthful executive pledged their commitment to do what they can to help advance the association, and get more involvement from other media workers.
President Kern Mason assured that his team will do what they can, but that the executive cannot do it alone. Some members of the association who are also long-standing members of the medi, assured the new team that they would be available to offer services and expertise should it be requested.
The executive is expected to meet within the upcoming weeks to further plan the way forward.
