Recent drug operations by the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) have resulted in the seizure of quantities of drugs and a number of drug related charges.

In Carriacou, sculptor Jason Sylvester 49 years, was charged with trafficking of a controlled drug, after the vehicle he was driving was intercepted at L’Esterre, and a bag containing South American cannabis weighing approximately 33 pounds with a street value of EC$165,000, was seized. A search of Sylvester’s Harvey Vale residence turned up an additional 1.5 pounds of the drug with a street value of EC$7,500.

In another drug bust, Vincentian Jason Telemaque, a 49 year-old, residing at Harvey Vale, Carriacou was charged with trafficking in a controlled drug after 35 pounds 2 ounces of cannabis were found in his possession.

Meanwhile, a maritime operation on mainland Grenada, conducted along the east coast, resulted in the seizure of a fishing vessel and a quantity of cannabis weighing approximately 106 pounds.

The occupants of the vessel fled the scene after running the boat aground in the Westerhall Saint David area. The drug is worth an estimated street value of EC$239,984. Investigations are continuing in this matter.
