Friday, 13 March 2020: The Ministry of Health, Grenada, wishes to reassure the general public that it is working tirelessly on the contact tracing and necessary protocols with respect to the confirmed case of Covid-19 in St Lucia, who happens to also be someone who visited Grenada from the United Kingdom between 29 February and 7 March.
Prior to this evening, and our engagement with colleagues in St Lucia, no official of the Ministry of Health was ever made aware that there was a suspected case, displaying symptoms of Covid-19, that visited Grenada during that period.
It is important to state that this individual did not request or access care while in Grenada.
From the moment the Ministry of Health was informed this evening of the developments in St Lucia, actions were immediately taken to engage in contact tracing, as per international protocols.
We have since learnt that the individual stayed at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort.
Further investigations are ongoing, following all established protocols, but in the meantime, the Ministry is fully engaged with the management and staff of the resort, and contact tracing has begun.
As more information becomes available regarding the individual’s activities while in Grenada, the Ministry will provide the details to the public.
The Ministry understands and echoes the concerns of every Grenadian and will, therefore, continue to do everything that is necessary to follow up on this case, as we will for any that is brought to our attention, and the nation will be made aware of it.

All of those Islands culture n thinks need to evolve.
OUR BELOVED AND HONOURABLE PRIME MINIST W R IS DOING ABOVE AND BEYOND TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF THE GRENADIAN PEOPLE.. WE ARE SO THANKFUL. IT IS UP TO US TO DO OUR PART AND STEP UP PROPER HYGIENE PRACTICES.. etc.
Grenada is a tri island. Mitchell. Report All cases. Like the fool who came to Petit Martnique who infected local server in restaurant. Serve All the tri islands. Carriacou too. Remember them?
All the confirm cases that have been detected in St. Lucia are from the UK and France. St Lucia closing borders to those Countries this week. People from those Countries must understand, coming to the Island and putting you whole f…ing family in danger is not right. They know our health system is not the best. You have not visited the Island in years and now you coming bringing made in China virus. Stay where you are and wait till this epidemic is over. Please Encourage your family to stay where they are, we don’t need this virus to get out of control. Please and thank you. If it was $$$$$ you would not bring it.
The Government’s response is positive but not nearly enough: the Hotel should be in lock down, everyone working there should be quaranteen Ed, all UK flights and flights from/to Trinidad and Tobago should be halted, it should be legislated that our supermarkets – which see 3000 – 4000 people passing through them – must off sanitizers or soap washes to all entering and leaving those premises and everyone coming into Grenada should be quaranteened or forces into self isolation protocols. And all cruise ship visits should be immediately cancelled. Let me ask: are we doing ANY of these things? How much longer is going to take for us to take these actions? Probably AFTER it is too late. Urhhh!
These Government people in St Lucia, I don’t know they came from. They allow the country to get infected instead of closing up for a little while. What do they have to achieve by doing that? I don’t know. Lets see what happens next!!
Stop talking shit. A country cannot just closed border in just one day, there are measures to put in place before that can happen.
A travel ban issued by Grenada is not necessary anymore, as most countries have issued travel advisories NOT to travel internationally, otherwise, there is no guarantee they will be able to get back. I’m from Canada, and with a very heavy heart, cancelled my vacation, that I was looked forward to for months. Our PM has asked anyone overseas to make immediate plans to return to Canada, at a few select airports to be designated today or Monday. Same thing for the US, and the UK, therefore, Grenada will not be seeing visitors from these countries for many months to come. Please pray to keep us all safe during these very difficult times.

I am not Grenadian but I am a West Indian and I highly applaud the bold decision taken by your government, while other islands with confirmed cases are still pussy-footing with people’s lives. Grenadians should be grateful that such a decision was taken. Clearly the Grenada situation will prove how one person could help spread this virus and how important it is to take the necessary measures advised by our Health experts. Our God has asked us to humble ourselves, call on Him, pray, move away from our wicked ways and He will hear from heaven and heal our lands. Let’s do it! He’s our only hope in this sin sick world. Blessings.
Thats very good about grenada, telling the people all the information, especially what hotel the lady stayed at. But not sainy lucia, they keep on hiding and more allowing persons to panic!!!
If you have stayed away for 27 years and don’t feel safe going home now with your family, stay away at least another year, That won’t stop Grenada from being there.
