The Government of Grenada is assuring the population that the announcement of Saturday, 11 April as the next shopping day is not meant as an affront to any religion.

Covid-19 Response Coordinator, Dr George Mitchell, explained that the decision is based purely on scientific modelling which puts the contacts of those who have tested positive, near the end of their 14-day period of exposure.

Dr Mitchell said it is therefore critical to ensure that there is sustained control in the next few days to minimise the potential spread of the virus.

Now that Grenada has the ability to test samples, Dr Mitchell says it is also important that this period is used to conduct additional tests which would help to provide a better appreciation for where we are, with regard to the fight against Covid-19.

Relatedly, positive discussions are being held with a view to adding another shopping day. An announcement on this will be forthcoming.

Rev. 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell save he that had the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. My brother and sisters in Grenade say strong, the Sunday law is upon us, but God said our bread and water will be sure

no religion? and Adventists who consider the biblical Sabbath to be a holy day. this is a direct attack on cult linearity. isn’t Adventist religion relevant?

it’s not an attack on any religion. It is a way to prevent more spreads as simple as th@t.

It is an attack on the 4th Commandment of God and the only one which begins with the words Remember…

This policy need not have put pressure on the Sabbath like Holy week does every year in commonwealth countries by closing on Good Friday and Easter Monday. For example , dubbed best market in the world, the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC renowned St Lawrence Market in “Hogstown ” ( Ontario?) Canada shuts down on both Sunday and Monday and allows pork selling shops to conduct business as early 5 am on Saturdays . Their punishment will come ( Isaiah 66:15-17 cf Rev 16 ) .

I appreciate Jamaica land we love more when I consider how we didn’t resort to this selfish measure taken by Grenada .

Leave the shops open every day for as long as possible. Spread the shoppers as much as possible. Clustering all shopping in a few hours per week will only make the virus spread faster. Curfew yes, but the ‘grocery days’ are idiotic.

Agree with you. Just imagine the silly queues they will have and how inundated the staffs will be. Such a decision will suppress everyone’s immune system and make them
      All more vulnerable.

Have regular shopping every day from 8am-12pm so that everyone can get what they need, have Bank tellers operating at such time as so that who don’t have an ATM card can withdraw money to feed their families and this goes to Carriacou and Petit Martinique as well, have Money gram and western Union operating as well on these days for the said one week, how about shipping agencies they are suppose to be allow to conduct buisness operations as well, everyone should follow the guidelines given by Health personals,Please service the people in the right way to avoid any UPRISING AND LOOTING.please take heed.

We cannot have a repeat of the queuing fiasco of Monday, it defeats the object having so many queuing to buy food. Why not let critical workers shop one day & the general public another rather than everyone at the same time? Why not have shops open each day? Social distances rules are well known by now. The idea of supermarkets stocking shelves beforehand helps the first of the shoppers but if the shelves aren’t restocked straight away what about everyone else? Panic buying WILL happen on the next shopping day to the detriment of the majority.
