Earlier this week saw the completion and opening ceremony of the EC$3.1 million Cherry Hill Agricultural Feeder Road Project in Carriacou.

The project, in its 10-month duration, saw the construction of over 3,000 feet of concrete roads and drains as well as major retaining walls and driveways.

Minister of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government Hon. Kindra Maturine-Stewart, in her address at the completion and opening ceremony, commended Sky’s Construction for its excellent execution and ensuring that high construction standards were maintained throughout the project.

Minister Stewart added that the project was initiated by the late Elvin Nimrod, former Minister of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government, and is pleased to have brought it to fruition. She emphasised that roads play a critical role in the development of any country serving as the catalyst for economic growth and reaffirms Government’s commitment to improve the island’s road network.

In closing, Minister Stewart stated that soon an announcement will be made of the successful bidder for the Limlair road under the Government’s Agricultural Feeder Road Project followed by the commencement of construction work there.

Contractor James Stafford of Sky’s Construction Limited, thanked residents of Cherry Hill for their patience, understanding and support throughout the entire project.
